Aegon AM launches Insured Credit Fund

Aegon Asset Management today announces the launch of the Aegon Insured Credit Fund, expanding access to its Insured Credit strategy for institutional investors in Europe and the UK.

Operating as a Luxembourg domiciled Reserved Alternative Investment Fund (RAIF), the Fund provides access to the growing, global market of insurance wrapped financing. It offers investors capital-efficient, compelling risk-adjusted returns and ESG integration with exposure to credit investments sourced globally which are all fully insured by A and AA rated global insurance companies. The Fund is evergreen in nature with liquidity options matching the underlying investment portfolio and is designed to meet the continuous demand for private credit strategies that are low risk and capital-efficient while still offering attractive returns.

Aegon AM has been active in insured strategies since the 1980s, working across government-guaranteed and insured credit markets. The Fund builds on this long-standing expertise, with a dedicated team based in the Netherlands and the UK, supported by Aegon AM’s Global Research team and Responsible Investment platform. The strategy has performed strongly against its objectives, generating an attractive yield of EUR swaps +215 basis points (gross of fees, as at 30 June 2026), with no negative credit risk migration and no credit losses to date1.

George Nijborg, Head of Insured Strategies and European Private Placements at Aegon AM, said: “The use of credit insurance is an established capital-efficient credit substitution product used by financial institutions, particularly banks. This Fund represents a significant step forward in further opening this scalable market to institutional investors. Backed by our strong track record and first mover advantage, the launch of the Aegon Insured Credit Fund draws on this opportunity by offering investors access to our insurance expertise, thorough ESG analysis and large, global sourcing network.”

Aegon Asset Management UK plc is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Aegon Investment Management B.V. is authorised and regulated by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets. Aegon Asset Management Luxembourg RAIF Funds is a reserved alternative investment fund (Fonds d'Investissement Alternatif Réservé) in the form of a public limited liability company with variable capital established and existing under the Luxembourg law. It is structured as an umbrella fund, including a number of ring-fenced sub-funds and as of today two of the sub-funds have been notified to the CSSF: Aegon IG Insured Credit Fund (notified on 29 September 2022) and Aegon Capital Call Finance Fund (notified on 7 February 2025). Carne Global Fund Managers (Luxembourg) S.A. has been appointed as the alternative investment fund manager of the RAIF (AIFM) and its sub-funds and Aegon Investment Management B.V. has been further delegated by the AIFM to act as the investment manager of the RAIF and its sub-funds. The RAIF and its sub-funds are not directly subject to the regulatory supervision of the CSSF. As per common Luxembourg practice, regulatory oversight is performed via supervision on the licensed Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) of the Fund, who is required to disclose to the CSSF the Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs, including RAIFs) as well as their sub-funds, that it manages and deposit the relevant fund documents with the CSSF. The authorised, licensed and supervised AIFM also must ensure that the RAIF managed by it complies with all AIFMD requirements applicable, including amongst others, the appointment of a depositary and an independent auditor. In this sense, a RAIF is an indirectly regulated fund in Luxembourg.
