Marijn Smit

Head of Transamerica Asset Management

Marijn Smit is the head of Transamerica Asset Management (TAM) and member of the Aegon AM Management Board. Marijn oversees TAM’s strategic direction and all aspects of the business, including product, operations, financial performance, investment strategy and distribution. TAM’s products include retail mutual funds, ETFs, variable insurance funds and retirement funds. Prior to Marijn’s current role, he presided over a range of investment-related functions for Transamerica’s Investments & Retirement business, the company’s largest division at that time. He was also a senior member of the investor relations team at Transamerica’s parent company, Aegon. Before joining Aegon, Marijn worked in equity research as a senior equity analyst. Marijn is a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute. He also serves on the boards of the Netherland-America Foundation and the Transamerica Institute and is a member of the Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver Finance and Audit Committee. Marijn earned a Master of Science degree in economics from the University of Groningen (Netherlands), with a concentration in finance, and completed an Executive MBA at the leading international business school INSEAD, graduating with distinction.
