John O'Donnell

Interim Chief Risk and Compliance Officer

Bio

John O’Donnell is Aegon Asset Management’s interim chief risk and compliance officer responsible for raising and maintaining the global standard of risk management and compliance within the three lines of defense model. He oversees portfolio risk management, enterprise risk management and compliance as well as having accountability for oversight of our two joint ventures, Aegon Industrial Fund Management Company (AIFMC) and La Banque Postale Asset Management (LBPAM). He is also Global Head of Enterprise Risk, responsible for providing strategic direction to the Enterprise Risk team. Prior to joining Aegon AM UK, John, a chartered accountant, spent several years in a variety of different roles across the UK and US as part of KPMG’s Financial Services Assurance team, latterly as a senior manager in Scotland. John has been in the industry since 2007 and started with the firm 2016 originally in the internal audit department. John has demonstrated an ability to successfully lead teams through change and operates with confidence and credibility at Board level. John holds a BA Honours degree in accounting with finance from the University of Glasgow.
